Excellent location to read up on the various religious positions on human embryonic stem cell research while your wife attends a scientific conference nearby.
Also, best fish and chips I've had so far in this visit to the UK. Of course it would be the French who achieve that distinction. -

The negative reviews posted here are from sometime ago and I would suggest that they have changed the staff since then because the current staff are very good.
I have never had a problem eating this restaurant and is often very busy. The food is great and the service is pretty good too. I have never had to wait very long for my food.
I have some excellent vouchers which can be used pretty much any day the week.
Don't be put off by the previous negative reviews. -

Here's a tip for anyone who, for whatever reason, ends up in Dorking when there's something popular on at the theatre: don't expect to be able to eat anywhere decent. Pretty much the only half-decent place you'll find is Pizza Express.
Unfortunately for me, I had no idea that you need to book to get into Pizza Express if you want to eat there pre-theatre time. So we ended up in Cafe Rouge, a chain I've not visited for about a decade. It has not improved in my absence.
The Dorking restaurant quite clearly could not cope with the overspill of people who had not been able to get into Pizza Express. There seemed to be one waitress trying to deal with the whole restaurant, and it would appear that there was only one cook in the kitchen. You'd think they'd be lucky to get any food out at all, but given that it's pretty obvious that the food served is just re-heated pre-made crap, one 'cook' is probably all they need.
Avoid at all costs. I'd rather eat the KFC down the road. -

We had a lovely meal here on Sunday lunchtime, although it was noticeable that the restaurant was very quiet.
The food was good, standard fare; the mussels were excellent.
The wine list is good and service was reasonable, but the whole place lacked the ambience generally found at this French food outlet.
